where's the playground, Susie?
playground safety
Require adult supervision. As an adult, you are generally not required by law to supervise children on your community's playground. . . . But you should require parents or other adult guardians to watch kids and make sure the rules are followed.. . . . Some cities set a certain age below which children require supervision.
Warn that those using playground do so at their own risk. Your rules should warn citizens that they are responsible for their activities on the playground and that the "association" is not responsible for injuries or accidents. . .
Set hours. It is a good idea to set reasonable hours for playground use based on when it gets dark in your area. . . . If the playground has a fence and gate, you can lock the gate during off-hours and when it is raining or snowing.
Ban older and bigger kids. Set a maximum age or height of the children you allow to use the playground—depending on the type of equipment and the manufacturers’ instructions. . . . Equipment is usually tailored to a particular age or height.
Ban improper use of equipment. Make it clear to people that they must ensure that their kids use the playground equipment properly. . . . rules should ban some common abuses such as:
Standing, kneeling, or riding double on swings;
Walking up or down the slide; and
Climbing on top of the swing sets.
Ban in-line skates, skateboards, bicycles, and tricycles. One common dangerous misuse this rule prevents is children using skates or skateboards on the slide, which could cause injury.
Ban pets and food and drinks.

beware of darkness
if you've owned stock in in last few years of PCBC , ~Pacific Capital~ parent company of Santa Barbara Bank and Trust, then you've no doubt been on a roller coaster ride...it was selling for less than a dollar when the CEOs ran it into the ground, then it shot up to about $5, then back down..then a Texas billionaire infused millions in PCBC, then a reverse stock split put it to about $30 per share..and now we learn the company got sold to Union Bank for about $46 per share...so if you held on and added, then you did pretty well..unfortunately, many locals lost their age-old investments due to the mismanagement...and Pacific Cap took a bailout..ie the taxpayers bailed the CEOs out..the conservatives don't want to pay public workers, but they have no problem bailing out banks and watching the CEOs take the money and run....welcome to corporate America where greed rules...
now I love the stock market but too many people think it's a casino.... a healthy stock market is essential to healthy pensions..ie honest people running things...NO MORE BANK BAILOUTS.....fire the CEOs instead
and...there are unscrupulous people everywhere that want to steal your savings from you....
as I reported here on this gossip blog that the anti-worker pension reform initiatives failed to gather the required signatures and/or money to make the 2012 ballot, I found an old interview from the guy who was responsible for trying to remove rights from the public workers....
now who would try to remove the bargaining rights from public workers..well Wisconsin Gov Scott Walker would, the little weasel and Koch Bros kiss ass....the great state of Wisconsin took exception to these lilly white collar never worked-a-day-in- their -lives- kinda guys lecturing them on work ethics...Scott Walker should be recalled soon as the recall effort got over one million signatures....of course Scotty is running to his Koch daddies to protect him..just like Lanny Ebenstein runs to mommy Wendy to protect him.. and I found this interesting piece

Are you mismatching cause and effect? Taxpayers are making up the defined-benefit pension differences because the markets the pension funds were invested in flopped. Isn't it the markets' fault, not the unions?
If, as I believe, you don't think the market is going to grow at the 3% or 4% rate, then there has to be a recalibration. But the crucial question is whether public employees are overcompensated, and I believe unequivocally is that they are.
Did your father get a pension from UCSB?
He died at 65, so I don't believe he ever did.
Do you get one for the time you taught at Santa Barbara Community College?
I do.
Some people disagree with your numbers, and with your dislike of collective bargaining in the public sector. You cite a 1937 letter from FDR: "The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service."
I am not one who would say we're paying public sector teachers too much -- that's an area where it may be of benefit to pay more
Are you asking the Koch brothers? They controversially put money against public employee unions in Wisconsin.
We haven't gone to the Koch brothers yet, but we may. In the same way that the problem was created by Democrats and Republicans, the solution is going to be created by Democrats and Republicans. You have to unite Republicans who are concerned about taxes with Democrats who are concerned about public services.
well , all the initiatives proposed by Lanny and his wealthy pals FAILED to get on the ballot...and reading his simple-minded responses to Morrison's questions leaves no doubt that Lanny and his pals simply live in another world....a bailout world of easy money...

three bells
ring....
while the media wants to lull you into thinking that the cops, the homeless and the Mexicans are committing all the crimes, it is evident that white punks are mostly responsible for local crime, so of course their mommies and daddies scapegoat the pigs, the bums and the beaners....
at Park Place over by Birnam Wood, we had a drunk issue...I used to deliver the News-Press to Joe Walsh and Burl Ives who lived on Park Place and Buena Vista years ago...that's as close to rocknroll stardom I ever got!
but the addresses that are intriguing to me are 1482 East Valley Road, 1267 Channel Drive and Ocean Oaks behind me in the foothills....we got theft, drugs, vandalism, DUI, assaults coming from these places
so I went to check it out....first of all it's later than it seems thanks to daylight savings time; next I see the gas prices went up from $4.39 last week to $4.41..oh, that little two cents is really gonna help the big oil companies who are fixing prices and gouging us..why aren't they taxed and regulated? that's for another day...so off I go to see about Montecito's crime wave..
first I see the Ocean Oaks place is a beverage distributing company and there was an assault there..thats' odd... this is a residential neighborhood...but anyway, hitting people never solves anything unless they hit you first, then you can wup their ass!!
next I go down East Valley to 1482 where the drugs vandals and other crimes have been happening since 2009..oh, it's the little shopping center at the upper village..Tecelote bookshop is here, some banks, a hardware store...it's where I met Wendy and Nipper on that fateful day during Wayne Pacelle's book signing party! well, somewhere in this area we got drugs, vandalism and theft....geez....how about trying some work..cut lawns and teach your kids a work ethic...too
now down to the beach..Butterfly Beach and 1267 Channel Drive..I park it and walk around Ty Warner's place, but he's on Fairway Drive...cool entrance Ty! big stone pillars and fire burning lanterns...this place is really awesome actually..maybe I was wrong about Ty....he did a pretty nice job up here and it still has the old
so I go down the old beach road and it's hard to find numbers on the properties ... Channel Drive is too cool for numbers so I assume 1267 is around the Biltmore or Coral Casino....maybe some hotel guests got rowdy! ooowwww, nice Ford GT....

Good Morning Little Schoolgirl...
so I was curious as to why the Santa Barbara Education Foundation was so adverse to the mayor's tax initiatives..then it dawned on me..it's a foundation..ie a fucking nonprofit!
Welcome to the Santa Barbara Education Foundation.
SBEF was recently featured on Nonprofit Spotlight, channel 21.
The Santa Barbara Education Foundation serves over 15,000 students in 22 schools in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. Unlike other school foundations and specific capital projects that serve only a single school or project, SBEF is uniquely positioned to provide leadership for fundraising projects that benefit multiple schools at all levels --- elementary, middle and secondary.
The need for private support of public education has never been greater! State budgets for education continue to be cut each year, with negative impacts on our local classrooms. The quality and excellence we seek for our students is increasingly dependent on the generous private support of our community--- parents, retired seniors, businesses, philanthropists, and all those who care about the importance of public education in a democratic society.
Since its formation in 1985, the Santa Barbara Education Foundation has relied on the commitment and support of dedicated community volunteers and donors to achieve a proud record of
to benefit our students, their teachers, and our schools.
then I check out the Board of Directors and see some of my old pals:
William Macfadyen
Publisher, Noozhawk
Secretary, Santa Barbara Education Foundation
Dr. David CashSuperintendent, Santa Barbara Unified School District
Ex Officio Member
aha! MacFadyen and Cash..two conservative dimwits if I ever saw any....Billy Mac got his panites twisted over a SB cop arresting wife beater/DUI repeater Tony Denunzio..he actually supported drunk driver DeNunzio and tried to smear arresting Officer Tudor for doing his job...and wasn't MacFadyen's son busted for drugs awhile back??? yes, I believe I read about that somewhere...
and David Cash ran away from the Fresno school district to work in Santa Barbara....what's the first thing Cash does....fires teachers and hires drug sniffing dogs, probably urged on by MacFadyen.......geez Bill just because your kid maybe got busted for coke doesn't mean every kid in the school district uses drugs!!
these folks are dumbasses and should definitely be taxed to the max....now they are on my radar and I think a real investigation is warranted.....these nonprofits always want more money, what on earth are they doing with the donations, running drugs??
these folks need to stop interfering and start educating!!

burn baby burn...
actually I liked some disco music....you could dance the night away and dancing is good for you..
now I think that Mike Stoker running again for public office is rather funny given Mike's past involvement with shady enterprises....and shady people like Joe and Lanny, but the shadiest coupling was with Greka Oil....Greka was in the news for all the oil spills into creeks and all the excuses they gave why the spills happened..Mike stood before the cameras and blamed phantom saboteurs and political enemies...of course Mike was just trying to protect his sugar daddies Cowboy Willie and Brooks Firestone who leased the land to Greka...
the county had to respond hundreds of times to Greka spills..how does that protect taxpayers?? it doesn't..
anyway, I found this old clip of a Greka public announcement that morphed into some chick adjusting her boobs!
enjoy!!

pay the price
so a guy who was financed by Wendy McCaw goes thru a sensational public hearing, slanders a few SB cops, admits on public TV that he blew a 0.09 and that he likes to drink, gets off SCOTT-free...wow, as long as justice is administered by stupid people, it will be slow, not swift..and Lance says he was arrested for a DUI crime he didn't commit..but on the Worthen One on One show, he tells a different story as he admits he was 0.09!! I find this very curious and proof Lance is a liar and Judge Brian Hill is a moron...ok, case closed...
suffragette city
now... the group "one million bigoted white moms" dropped their boycott of JC Penney because Penny used Ellen for their spokesperson....I think the slutty moms were getting antsy about losing out on all those sales!!
I can't believe some of the stuff coming from the conservatives against women..you think I'm a misogynistic pig, what about this Wisconsin lawmaker who wants to criminalize single moms, calling them child abusers..just really silly stuff... ignoramus Wisconsin Senator Glenn Grothman has introduced a bill to amend a current state law to include "nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect."
http://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/952837/are-single-parents-also-child-abusers
of course there is no correlation between single moms and incidence of child abuse..this is fiction conjured up by conservatives threatened by independent women
while public employee pension reform is a political issue, the majority of Californians see thru the smokescreen coming from the News-Press editorial pages and elsewhere....that's why all the ballot initiatives against collective bargaining failed...any issues in pensions can be handled at the local level, at the bargaining table not in the local newspaper so the players need to improve their bargaining skills...make fair concessions and not pick the pocket of the public worker who happened to plan for the future...
it was a good move on Helene's part and I hope she sticks to her guns...like leaders need to do sometimes to get things done....

now if you'll excuse me, I have a round of polo to play...

whistling down the wire...
it seems the News-Press is sending me messages on the front page...a few days ago about public employee pension reform and yesterday about DUI cases....first of all in case you didn't hear, these folks from Team Wendy are a bunch of LOSERS!!!
ok let's take a sober look at the DUI story...and believe you me I've heard this story before...in San Francisco, hundreds of DUI cases could be tossed because the cops 'possibly' mishandled the field test units..something about calibration of the units..now this is very suspicious to me..a public defender teaming with DUI attorneys to call into question a field sobriety test from 2006...remember public defender Hogan Ganschow who recently got busted for being under the influence and who tried to help Peter Lance smear the DUI patrol unit..same thing looks to be happening in San Francisco....and just like Peter Lance did, the SF public defender set up a hotline for people convicted of DUI to call in and tell their tale of woe...
well there's only one way to resolve this, possibly... I'll take a breathalyser test and if it reads that I'm under the influence when I'm not, then ok, they are defective...but if it reads that I'm sober, then there's no point in wasting anymore time on this...however, in the interest of public safety and for a limited time, I am offering these little keychain breathalysers that normally sell for $69.95-at a discount for $49.95- just use codeword BLOW when ordering..sorry guys, this is for the ladies only!
so the taxpayers are gonna foot the bill for going over all this stuff because drunks don't want to pay the price of their stupidity! what a crock!! a judge should step in a stop all this nonsense...the key words here are 'could and possibly'....and we know how many time Lance used 'could and possibly' in his series about his self-inflicted run-in with the Santa Barbara cops..the cops 'possibly' did this and 'possibly' did that
well, all the fools who keep driving while inebriated, good luck getting your convictions thrown out... because it's not gonna happen...possibly
