lemon tree

very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet,
but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat

so I hear that SB city Councilman Frank Hotchkiss is targeting street vendors and bullying little girls and boys who sell lemonade by the side of the road..you've seen them, I've seen them..the lemonade stands..occasionally I'll stop and buy a cup when I'm on the bike, but I think Frank is right...I get fed up seeing little kids try to squeeze money out of people without the proper permits....first Frank calls on the ABR members to resign for not liking Chicken McBigots, now he's going after children...good job councilman Hotchkiss! and it looks like Frank's ethos is spreading throughout the land..

Justin Peterson, 12, Fined For Fundraising Efforts

Chewelah boy fined for Honor Flight fundraiser

A Chewelah student who has raised more than $25,000 dollars for World War II Veterans is facing a hefty fine for his good deeds. view full article

If it's true that no good deed goes unpunished, then a Washington state 12-year-old who has raised more than $25,000 to help aging World War II veterans may just be the poster boy for that cliche.

Justin Peterson was holding his usual fundraiser for the Honor Flight Program, which flies vets to Washington, D.C., to see the National World War II Memorial , when a local health inspector came up to his hamburger stand in a Chewelah park. Despite the boy's worthy cause, the inspector fined him $170 for not having the proper food permit.

“She charged us for it and I was kind of sad," Peterson told local TV station KREM. "I was just trying to raise money for vets.”

Dave Windom, administrator for the health district, defended the inspector, who he said was only following policy.

“You don’t want someone in the field making judgment calls on what they consider a worthy cause and cutting people slack. It opens the door for accusations of favoritism," he said.

Still, faced with an embarrassing situation, the health district board members agreed that while they couldn't waive the fine they would use their own money to pay it off.

As for Peterson, who has helped send more than three dozen veterans to the nation's capital by selling hamburgers, holding nacho dinners and selling Honor Band wristbands (available for $5 by emailing JP4vets@yahoo.com), he called the whole thing "kind of cool."

don't worry kid, there's always a Frank hiding in the shadows...just run up and spit in his eye!

feeling single, seeing double

geez News-Press!!

I went online and couldn't make heads or tails of the stories...they were in duplicate, the writing was atrocious and I've heard rumors that the front page guys are potheads!!

"benefactor gives SB council divided"

"A proposal to vote on whether some members of the Santa Barbara Architectural Board of Review should remain in office couldn't garner support enough support to appear on next week's City Council agenda"

and after reading this incoherent jumble, I would agree with the poothead assessment!! and two days after the Judge Donna Geck ruled in favor of Jerry Roberts and against Ampersand, no story from Scott Steepleton..and he was there in the courtroom because I saw him!! wut up Scott?

are we witnessing the decline and fall of the News-Press??

pussy riot

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: To prove to the possum it could actually be done!

Chick fil A controversy drives Santa Barbara to the brink! ABR thumbs nose at Christian conservatives!!

SB city council pussies Hotchkiss and Rowse call for ABR resignations for no logical reasons...Putin tweets support..Mayor throws hissy fit!! consumers running round like chickens with their heads cut off!!!

but hey....the folks on the ABR have as much a right to free speech as that bigoted asshole Chick Fil a CEO Dan Cathy!!

while many have clucked at the SB ABR for speaking freely, I congratulate them! so a few members had issues with the Chick fil a business and refused to vote on the new restaurant in SB where Burger King once resided...so what...maybe they thought the restaurant didn't fit in with Santa Barbara standards..how about a KKK restaurant.....would the folks who support Chick Fil A support a KKK restaurant under the same free speech argument?

and Frank Hotchkiss can't tell the ARB what or how to think..who the fuck does he think he is, Hitler?? we all have free speech rights, not just conservative bigots and jellyspined liberals....

PURPOSE:
The original Architectural Board of Review (ABR), formed in 1925, operated for only nine months. Discontinued for over two decades, the ABR was re-established in 1947 by ordinance, and in 1967 as a Charter Board.

General Functions
Insures that high standards of design are maintained in development and construction in the City of Santa Barbara.

Protects and preserves, as nearly as practicable, the natural charm and beauty of Santa Barbara, including the historical style, qualities, characteristics of the buildings, structures and architectural features associated with and established by its long, illustrious and distinguished past.

Reviews, approves, conditionally approves or disapproves all applications for commercial, industrial, multi-family except in El Pueblo Viejo Landmark District or other landmark districts or a designated Landmark.....

so everything is open to interpretation and to protect the natural charm and beauty of Santa Barbara including the historical style and qualities..well that includes who is doing business here....how many new businesses and buildings do Santa Barbarans want that promote the ignorance and bigotry of the CEO??

so all the calls for resignation of the ABR members who chose to exercise their rights of free speech are nonsense.....Chick Fil a won't make or break Santa Barbara and a GOOD JOB to the ABR for really looking out for the aesthetic values of Santa Barbara which can't be separated from the character of the person promoting anti-civil rights!!!

rock on ABR!!!

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road halfway?
A: She wanted to lay it on the line.

you and oblivion

This is the month of the dead
Leaves on your Ouija board
Carry them 'round in your head
They've got free room and board, yeah

well I went into Santa Barbara on Wednesday morn and swung by the old school..SBHS..it looks fantastic and there was a little band practice going on at the baseball field....all this talk about our schools doing poorly is bunk..political nonsense..these kids are great!!!

but the real reason for my trip into oblivion was the Jerry Roberts vs Wendy McCaw (Ampersand) hearing..I get there at about 8:45 AM and enter room SB4 in the main courthouse...blondie Judge Donna Geck is hearing some issues when in walks Mr.Wimpy and sits right behind me....followed by bizarro News-Press reporter Scott Steepleton a few minutes later ...I figured Mr Wimpy was there to offer support for fellow partners in crime Wendy and the News-Press..but happily I was wrong...first of all I asked the bailiff if I can take pictures he says no and then tells me to spit out my gum....what is this high school? geez, I can't chew gum in court?? pictures and gum should be allowed goddamit this is AMERICA!! I got my eye on you, pal

ok so I comply... and then discover that Mr.Wimpy AKA Jim Worthen of the rightwing public TV show Worthen One on One was in court because he's got some cases against him...I didn't get all the details but it looks like Worthen got sued and settled then got sued by someone else for something that happened with his Greentree Property Management co...

up on a giant screen in the courtroom was a computer image of the case..it was hard to read but I think I saw a bunch of numbers $700...$200...$1000.... that Worthen had to pay to the plaintiff.....

I'll have to look into all this later but ol' Jim looked rather hung over wearing a sick green Hawaiian shirt...and after the appearance in front of the judge, he quickly left....and his lawyer was John Thyne! remember John? one of Kasi's victims!!

then a bunch of teens entered and sat down next to me..young foreign students, mostly girls checking out our justice system..they giggled alot and were pretty cute...ok I can't chew gum or take pictures in the courtroom..but I can dream, can't I?

then Jerry Roberts and Ampersand's lawyer enter and go before the judge.. I don't rightly know what transpired because I could barely hear them, but whatever happened didn't last more than a few minutes..WTF was that.. I thought we were gonna have a hearing! and everyone was mumbling and no real details were offered...

so I leave and get home and check the court calendars and oh I see..Ampersand has four individual hearings today so I should've just stayed there...but I'll find out what happened in the News-Press or the Indepenent since Barney Brantingham was there too...

now....the cases against Jim Worthen interest me...apparently he runs a property management company called Greentree...or maybe he mismanages it but the docket lists Worthen and his son as defendants and some tatoo artists as the plaintiffs...
hmmm, why would tatoo artists being suing Mr. Wimpy?? I think I'll have go a little further into oblivion to find out...

Dust Bowl Blues

I just blowed in, and I got them dust bowl blues,
I just blowed in, and I got them dust bowl blues,
I just blowed in, and I'll blow back out again.

wow..look..an editorial by Nipper! now I know Nipper fancies himself a water expert and who can argue the point when he writes about water conservation and uses an opening line from the Wall Street Journal about the "brutal drought" in the Midwest....

do you know how much water it takes to make a glass of wine or beer: 32 gallons! and how many freakin ass wineries do we have in Santa Barbara county? a zillion!!! small businesses my ass! they are leeches, all of them... slobbering over their little glasses of beer and wasting a precious resource so they can get a little buzz....and all you little hillbilly homophobic hillbilly bigots eating your little Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich just cost me 175 gallons of water!! punks!

I don't think Nipper knows what a watershed is but anyway he lists all the water sources available to Santa Barbarans and of course at the top is bottled water because he has some ties to the industry apparently...but Nipper insists that "drinking water is a crucial part human water needs" and "without quality drinking water, life cannot survive"

I had a gal, and she was young and sweet,
I had a gal, and she was young and sweet,
But a dust storm buried her sixteen hundred feet.

She was a good gal, long, tall and stout,
Yes, she was a good gal, long, tall and stout,
I had to get a steam shovel just to dig my darlin' out.

life cannot survive?? well that's an interesting statement...being that global warming is gonna kill everyone except the well prepared, and that the 20 degree below zero winters in Montana will actually be more like a balmy 30 degrees F, but I will not panic...I am prepared regarding foodstuffs: I got kidney beans..a shelf life of about 5 years is good...and some canned salmon good until 2016..who would eat fish that old? I would...and sardines will last a few years...yum!

milk and eggs..only good for a few weeks.....Betty Crocker potato flakes..I opened a box once and bugs flew out! sorry Betty, you're not on the list

Mama Cocco's spaghetti sauce...2016! good mama! and pasta will last until 2015...both excellent sources of comfort food when the world is melting all around you...

and water..of course we need water in any form...so it is important not to waste it making plastic bottles or using redundant "purification" processes.....just store some tap water and you'll be fine..and all those purification devices are a waste of money!!

Nipper's survival tips are attach yourself to wealthy host and drink bottled water....not good tips at all

some water facts:
about 1.5 million barrels of oil—enough to run 100,000 cars for a whole year—are used to make plastic water bottles, while transporting these bottles burns even more oil.The growth in bottled water production has increased water extraction in areas near bottling plants, leading to water shortages that affect nearby consumers and farmers. In addition to the millions of gallons of water used in the plastic-making process, two gallons of water are wasted in the purification process for every gallon that goes into the bottles.

more pools, less beer!
Bottled water is the most visible and pervasive attempt by corporations to control our water. By turning water into a brand through misleading advertising bottlers take our water and sell it back to us. Pepsi's Aquafina, features a beautiful snow-capped mountain on its label, even though its contents come from municipal tap. The harmful effects of bottled water can be seen anywhere from India, where Coke and Pepsi have drained community wells, leaving residents without water, to places like Mt. Shasta, CA and Mecosta County, MI where Nestle has used its political power to ink deals that put corporate profit ahead of human need. romancing the stone

shocking rumors and half-truths!!

so today I'm a tabloid like the News of the World or the New York Post or the News-Press but at least I don't hack into dead peoples' email accounts to get stories...no siree..I got ethics....as Ruppie's empire begins tp crumble from all the corrupt people working with him...GOOD!!

and here's a juicy bit o' news: Pat Nesbitt, the wanna be polo player hotelier filed a $100 million bankruptcy to protect his assets from creditors, ie the folks he owes money to..it's a fight to the finish!

http://www.pacbiztimes.com/2012/08/02/nesbitt-hotels-file-100m-bankruptcy/

so while Pat was living high at BellaVista Polo Club Sod Farm, his hotels were losing money..will Pat soon be homeless? what's to become of Bella Vista?? I don't know..I don't Robinson Cano...more on Bella Vista and the evil rich later....

well, I'm afraid tabloids are with us since they appeal to our gossipy selves..the lazy side of our being....so kick off your shoes and take her easy and let's re-open the Natalie Wood case...Natalie was a Hollywood actress and was adorable in Miracle on 34th Street..a must see every Christmas....born Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko, she was a Russian American beauty...
but Natalie died in 1983 at the age of 43...she was on a boat near Santa Catalina Island with Christopher Walken and Robert Wagner and her death has been shrouded in mystery ever since...rumors about who did it....maybeWalken and Natalie were doing it a dingy and Wagner killed her in a jealous rage.....

According to the autopsy report, Wood had dozens of bruises on her body, including injuries to her face and arms. The autopsy found that her blood alcohol level was .14, and an examining doctor stated that it was higher when she went overboard. They also found two types of medication in her bloodstream: Cyclivine, a sea-sickness pill, and Darvon, a painkiller, which they believed caused a "much more drunken state" when combined with alcohol.

Biographer Suzanne Finstad writes that Wood had a relationship with director Nicholas Ray, director of Rebel Without a Cause, when she was 16 and he was 43. During her teens, Wood went on studio-arranged dates with older men, including actors Tab Hunter and Nick Adams, and dated actor Raymond Burr, when she was 17 and he was 38.Wood also dated actors Michael Caine, Steve McQueen, Tony Curtis, Warren Beatty, Dennis Hopper, singer Elvis Presley, director Henry Jaglom, and politician Jerry Brown

another Hollywood rumor is that Kirk Douglas raped Natalie Wood when she was a teen because she wouldn't star in a film with him.

from Blemish:
[This story] concerns one of the biggest male stars ever, and one of the most beloved female stars to ever live…

One day she was invited to meet with this movie star about an upcoming major role. This man was a legend already, and was very powerful. … Thinking [s]he herself was powerful and savvy, she accepted the invite. In his hotel room. She never saw it coming.

Without even discussing the film, this actor — drunk already — began making a pass at her. She politely declined, and excused herself. He wouldn’t have it. He literally threw her down, slapped the hell out of her, and ripped her clothes off. He shouted obscenities at her, continually punched and held her arms so tight he left scars and bruises.

He raped her repeatedly, spitting on her, and did permanent damage to her body. She was bleeding everywhere, with a battered face. She passed out. When she came to, the actor was still in the room gloating, and told her to come see him tomorrow night and he might give her the role. He laughed at her as she fell down, her legs so wobbly and weak. She gathered her torn clothes, and tried to walk out of the hotel and to her car – blood and semen running down her legs and bruises already forming on her face.

She could barely make it back home in her car. She wanted to kill herself, so ashamed of what happened. The damage to her psyche was permanent, and haunted her forever.
She never named the star actor publicly, but her friends and family knew the truth. Even after marriage and kids, if she saw this actor anywhere – she would almost convulse and cry. And worst of all, Hollywood and the world continued to honor him, pay him, and treat him like a king.

like Wendy and the News-Press do! I get suspicious when they keep glorifying the Douglas family....

http://theblemish.com/2012/03/robert-downey-jr-accused-kirk-douglas-of-rape/

"I`m sick of carrying guns and beating up women."

so here's my theory: Kirk told Michael to kill Natalie because Natalie was gonna rat out Kirk the dirty rat....and we know that Michael likes boats because he spends lots of time with Wendy on her yacht the Calixe in the Mediterranean sea, see?....remember when Wendy's boat got hammered by that other billionaire Solomon Lew...well, Lew claimed there was no way he caused all the damage and doubted he even hit Wendy at all!

so I think Michael Douglas crashed the boat at night while drunk..probably hit a whale... and they just blamed Lew the next day...you know how Wendy blames eveyone else for her issues..

we know Michael's got some alcohol probs so maybe Kirk gave Mike some vodka because Kirk likes vodka and Michael, tipsy and thinking he was acting in a movie, went over to Natalie's boat and killed her that fateful night in 1983...

and that's why nobody really knows what happened....because everyone thinks they are in a freakin' Hollywood movie!!
