but I see there are two guys trying to promote Beer Week in Santa Barbara...one from the alcohol-soaked Sentinel (published by Mr. Cocktail, Jim Buckley) and the other troll from the News-Press...I'm not surprised...I'll deal with them later

but I was surprised to see a story in the Independent praising a bartender in Santa Barbara..some dunce from Bulgaria who started drinking at 15 years old and likes scotch and cigars....the Indie is getting worse than the News-Press in pushing booze

so what is with all this alcohol promotion?? do they not get the connection? we are bombarded with ads saying in order to have fun and be sexy and cool, you need alcohol which is nonsense...

the coolest thing you can do is face the world clear-headed..and model that to kids....

of course Team Wendy is full of libertarians and conservatives and Team Lois is all liberals so we know what they are gonna say and write even before they say and write it!

and now we have some special propaganda from Team Wendy chief kissup Scott Steepleton telling us all about their awards because his wife Charlotte edits the LIFE section..nepotism right there...and it just creeps me out

and of course we know that Peter Lance won some Emmys for something... I read his nutty stuff and I don't know why he got a prize but if they keep giving awards to people who don't deserve them, it diminishes the ceremony..it's like too many safety cones on the street for too long a time..pretty soon you ignore or run over them!

now another issue is water...I'm reading the Coastal View and in the back is a picture of Nipper oh excuse me I mean Baron Arthur Von Wiesenberger, and some fat chick..apparently, the Morning Rotary Club invited Nipper to talk about bottled water...they claim that Nipper is a man of many talents and has published books on food and wine and bottled water..the gals say Nipper had a "deep knowledge" on bottled water...he's a bottled water expert..well I know that Nipper hosts a water tasting thing in Virginia but his claim to be some sort of water guru is spurious at best...and fraudulent at worst....bottled water is energy intensive and besides most of it is municipal water anyway..tap water!!

if you want info on drinking water, invite a Cater water plant operator to speak, not Nipper!!

so what is a rotary club....some sort of non-profit with a bunch of conservatives trying to do who knows what... The stated purpose of the Rotary Club is to promote humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards and help build goodwill throughout the world.

why do they need a club to do that? well does Nipper have high standards? The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is holding a new "Race to Protect Your Favorite Place" Youth Poster Contest. The contest is being offered by CDFW’s Invasive Species Program as part of California Invasive Species Action Week, Aug. 2-10.

There are three age divisions, for youths in grades 2-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Participants should create an original poster that shows an invasive species that threatens their favorite outdoor place and how they can take action to help protect it.

According to CDFW environmental scientist Valerie Cook Fletcher, many people don’t realize the potential implications of very simple acts. For example, that the planting of certain non-native ornamental plants can ultimately end up destroying the quality of our waterways and lands, or that the release of non-native crayfish used as bait during fishing trips has likely resulted in the decline of California’s native crayfish, and impacted other species dependent on the habitat. Action Week provides an important opportunity to educate adults and children about such invasive species.

"California’s greatest asset in invasive species management is an informed public," said Cook Fletcher.
