Come and Get It

if you want it come and get it...

I think Santa Barbara should change its name to Senta Berger.. hey, I'm going into Senta Berger today!

I also think Wendy McCuckoo was ahead of her time requiring News-Press employees to wear masks years ago

now about these podcast issues betwixt Neil and Joe Rogan on Spotify... I don't listen to Spotify but saw Joe on Youtube...seems like an affable guy, not too bright if he took horse pills for the flu, and Neil pulling his music after issuing an ultimatum to Spotify...Joe stays and Neil goes..

I guess Spotify is betting on Rogan and podcasts as the wave of the future..it all boils down to one thing: free will...anything you see or hear must pass before your sensibilities and you can choose to believe or not believe it...simple...free will, Neil, free will, man..you too Joni

more indoor mask mandates by SBC Health..absurd..no wonder there's so much blowback on the Covid issues..the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing..all mask mandates must end now!!

the vaccine is available...if you want it, get it..if not, don't

got it? good

You Don't Own Me

I'm not just one of your little toys...

I wish the News-Press would stop preaching sermons to us: OBEDIENCE TO GOD will set you free says one lady's editorial: "Let’s face it, it is our obedience to God that will set us free from the negative forces in our world, allow us to make good decisions, and make our lives fruitful and beautiful again. This would be the time to return to the source of the values, and decency, inspiration, strength and courage.  Attend your traditional places of worship — churches and synagogues — and re-connect with the traditions and values that perhaps were wrung out of you during the college years." It was a remarkably effective way, those college years, of destroying and tampering down the morality and faith that our forefathers fought so hard to retain for us.

translation: public education is bad because it doesn't teach religious dogma...

now that's funny...let me remind the conservatives that without the Constitution, without the First Amendment, they wouldn't be able to preach all that religious baloney..... besides some of the Founding Fathers had  kids with mistresses...Thomas Jefferson had Sally Hemmings as a sex slave! he owned her

but where do conservatives go when they run out of ideas? to Wendy's radio station, that's where! Ex City Council weirdo Dale Francisco has a show on AM 1290 and he's now under Wendy's control..she owns him

now, vaccines aren't 100% effective but I got a shot when I was a kid..measles and I think we drank the polio Kool Aid and if you went to Europe you got shots and boosters so vaccines aren't a big deal and may be an insurance policy...if you want it then get it and ignore the anti-vax nuts

but whatever you do, know that you're in my thoughts and prayers

Lord of the Flies

We’ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we’re not savages.

Jan 6, 2021 ..a sitting president, claiming the 2020 election was stolen from him when in fact he lost to Joe Biden, stood behind a thick plexi-glass barrier and told his flock of useful idiots to storm the Capitol building and take back the country:  "And I actually, I just spoke to Mike. I said, Mike, that doesn’t take courage, what takes courage is to do nothing. That takes courage, and then we are stuck with a president who lost the election by a lot, and we have to live with that for four more years. We’re just not going to let that happen. Many of you have traveled from all across the nation to be here, and I want to thank you for the extraordinary love. That is what it is; there’s never been a movement like this ever, ever for the extraordinary love for this amazing country. And this amazing movement. Thank you."

CROWD: We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump. We love Trump

Off they went to Capitol Hill (minus Trump) and what a mess those little pigs made-breaking windows, smashing in doors, threatening senators, hurling fire extinguishers at cops, carrying "Cuckoo for JESUS" signs, shouting "Hang Mike Pence!"

clowns

At this point, it was clear that Trump was mentally incapable of leading the nation, had abandoned his post as Commander-in-Chief and fled the scene, the dirty SOB...Pence had to step up and carry out both VP and presidential duties...he did the right thing, the only thing: he followed the Constitution.

In the aftermath of the Capitol riot, 10 people died...many of the miscreants who stormed the Capitol have been arrested and jailed and the taxpayers will pick up the tab of course...

Let's Go To Jail, Brandon!

The TWILIGHT Zone

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

there's a sign post up ahead, next stop: THE TWILIGHT ZONE!

this is Wendy's New Year's address to the News-Press readers and I detect a change in tone from our gal...but as always, love is the answer!

By WENDY MCCAW

NEWS-PRESS CO-PUBLISHER

For the past two years,

I’ve heard numerous

people comment that

the world today is like

an episode from the

“Twilight Zone.”

Everything seems to be upside

down. The things we assumed

were dependable have unraveled.

The rules we followed have been

broken. The leaders we believed

in have failed. (Traitor Trump!!)

Like the “Twilight Zone,” the

future looks unpredictable. Unlike

the “Twilight Zone,” there are

no commercial breaks where we

can run to the kitchen and get a

reprieve from the drama (as well

as a snack). Unfortunately, there

is no Rod Serling to guide us

through this realm.

We’ve seen the macabre twists,

but the moral of this never-ending

saga is yet to appear.

Like the episode where that

bank teller (Burgess Meredith) who yearns to have

more time to read and gets his

wish when he becomes the sole

survivor of a nuclear holocaust,

have we as a people wanted more

free time and now have that wish

granted? (always wise to have two pair of glasses)

Except freedom really isn’t part

of the formula.

Yes, we now have lots of time to

read at home but we are no longer

a free people. We are captive to

bureaucratic baloney. (samwiches??) One week

we have to follow this mandate

or that and the next it has all

changed.

The ever-moving goal posts

of not knowing what or whom to

believe makes one distrustful of

those who are in power.

In Santa Barbara, we have been

witness to a depressing descent

into hopelessness. (we're fine in Carp!)

How many businesses on

State Street and other once thriving

thoroughfares have gone

dark? How many hard-working

shopkeepers, restaurateurs

and service providers have

disappeared? Our streets are

littered with debris, our walls

are defaced with graffiti, and the

transient population has taken

over our once-pristine piece of paradise.

As a community, we have

created numerous rescue services

and welfare programs at great

cost to taxpayers, (jail) but it hasn’t

worked.

In fact, it seems to encourage

bad behavior and a reliance upon

handouts instead of inspiring

transients to become contributors

to our society. Where is that

guardian angel of Santa Barbara

who can find a solution?

There is one thing that the

“Twilight Zone” offered in many

episodes: hope. That is what we

now need to hold onto tightly. With

hope we can cause change.

By striving to be better driven

by the spirit of hope, things

around us will also become better.

If you are fortunate to have someone in your  life to love and something to do, then hope is easier to nurture. If you are searching for that love component, then look around you with fresh eyes.

Love takes many different forms, from the

love of a soulmate to the love of a neighbor (I'd do my neighbor!) to the love of a pet.

If you can bring kindness into your daily life,

then life will reward you. (so will a hefty divorce settlement!)

For our beloved Santa Barbara, do what you

can to help improve it. If you see (white) trash on the

sidewalk, pick it up. Help support a struggling

business and become a loyal customer. As easy

as it may seem to order everything online, it

comes at a much higher cost — the price of

losing a local business.

If you have been waiting at home for things

to change, initiate that change. Volunteer

at one of the hundreds of local nonprofits in

town. You can make a difference in many

lives by helping out. It will also make a big

difference in your life.

Focusing on someone to love, something

to do and something to hope for could be the

moral of this episode and a pathway out of the

“Twilight Zone.”

for something to do!

Rocketman

burning out his fuse up here alone

"A Falcon 9 rocket and dozens of satellites rumbled away from Vandenberg Space Force Base, providing an early morning wakeup alarm for holiday shoppers on a clear but especially chilly Saturday morning.

After completing its job Saturday, the rocket’s first-stage successfully touched down on the football-field-sized droneship dubbed “Of Course I Still Love You,” parked in the Pacific Ocean south of the Central Coast."

what sights I'm seeing in the December sky!

Feliz Navidad

I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas!!

District elections are stupid, yet the City of Carpinteria sent me a map to draw up new districts for the 2022 elections...

now, the reason I say district elections are stupid is sometimes dummies get elected who otherwise couldn't be elected..the Santa Barbara City council has one such district-elected hombre in Oscar Guttierez...Oscar was in the news recently for allegedly suggesting old and disabled folks should not be allowed to live in fire-prone areas because it's hard to evacuate them..just think, you own home in the hills and Oscar sends the Mexican Mafia over to roust you out of your house and onto the street

“ Gutierrez asked if they could enact an ordinance to prevent old, sick and disabled people from living in the SB foothills to develop more housing in high fire areas.”

not in America, amigo

Carp is too small for districts but being a good, responsible citizen, I filled out the mapping tool anyway

simple enough

Hit Me with Your Best Shot

fire away!!

the News-Press, Independent and even Edhat have columns with tips about keeping your dogs safe during the holidays, so I thought I'd give it a shot...

LAYERING: when you're out walking your dog in December, think about the weather! it can be cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon, so it's important to layer up..

As you're walking you may need to shed a few items of clothing, just take them right off, use the dog as a rack, he won't mind as you can see him licking his chops!

then, strip down to the halter top and let the sun kiss your skin
