Marie's the Name

of his latest flame

ok then, what's up with the New Year? I watched in horror and glee the Republicans tried to elect a Speaker of the House and it was CRAZY

after 15 votes, Kevin McCarthy, the Bimbo from California, finally wins but he had to bribe his colleagues for votes..then he thanks Trump, a domestic terrorist/traitor for his influence...Trump, the Influencer...ha ha ha

The storms are nice but boy did that rain come down on the 9th...whooosh! Some people say we're still in a drought, but they are full of it...now we got more water than we know what to do with and the roofers are running around patching but they can't keep up!

Deborah Schwartz, daughter of the late, great Naomi is a kleptomaniac it appears...she allegedly lifted a nice Navajo rug from a Santa Barbara business à la David Landecker...never trust a Democrat..

Noozhawk got the scoop..I don't get scoops because it's easier to comment on a reporter's scoop...I'm a scoop-lifter!

But I did think it interesting that in the Naomi Schwartz County building, there are some nice artsy rugs and maybe Deb just wanted to donate her rug to her mom's building!

Jeff Beck was a fantastic guitarist, from the Yardbirds to Truth, and he left us a legacy of great music!!

I had a dream about Lisa Marie Presley:

The warm January winds were blowing last night and I had a series of rather intense and vivid dreams...

I was at an underpass in Montecito and a girl walks by me wearing a white dress, a veil and no shoes...I yell at a guy in the ice plant and the girl stops, turns around and says "What?"

I tell her I wasn't yelling at her so she keeps walking, then I shout "Hey!" and she turns around and starts laughing and walks towards me. She looks like Lisa Marie...

We head up to the Old Coast Rd and start walking to Santa Barbara, by the golf course...her shoes are back on...she asks if she can hold my hand, so we hold hands and it's a perfect fit...her hands were beautiful and so soft...

the softest hands I've ever held...

Snowbird

So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go

To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow

There's a story about a snowy owl hanging out in Cyress, CA and people are flocking there to get pictures:  'Like Seeing Santa Claus on a Beach'

Around Christmas time, I saw this bird on the big tree by the highway...I couldn't quite ID it, it's not the greatest picture but it had an owl-like face and I thought it may be a Northern Harrier.. but now with this story, I wonder if it wasn't the snowy owl before it headed south.

Snowy owls in Southern California are about as rare as snowy owls in Southern California but it's a cold winter and maybe that's the one...

I'd like to think it is

Another Auld Lang Syne

met my old lover at the grocery store

the snow was falling Christmas Eve

Find the cat in the picture and you win a prize!!

Christmas is over...I hope yours was filled with comfort and joy..mine was filled with Southern Comfort and Madame Joy, the chick who lives next door...haha

Seriously, 2022 was a strange year and 2023 is almost here. I don't expect too many changes but with all the rain Spring will be beautiful and blooming...right now it's Winter and that's just fine with me...

Politically speaking, I've never seen the Republicans weaker or stupider..they are all running around like headless chickens with zero leadership and that's too bad...We need a strong GOP to counter some of the foolish actions by the Democrats..but as long as the Trump/MAGA clowns are wasting everybody's time, the Republicans are just flotsam...

I would like to see this fixation on sexuality end and the answers can be found in biology and psychology, not the bible...kids go through stages, so let them without forcing puberty blockers or other drugs to affirm their gender...if you bust in on your kid and he's wearing a bra, don't panic...it's just a stage I went, I mean some kids go through..

Locally, we need to stop all these MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR bike paths/dog paths from being built, esp in green areas and wildlife and bird corridors because it is insane to replace plants and birds and rocks and things with tons of cement and purple rebar... Pretty soon we won't have any dirt left...

So, stop dragging your knuckles and let's get the show on the road!

HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Father Time vs Mother Nature

I love this weather!!! it's all Christmasy!

so I see Noozhawk changed its format to look like the Independent and the News-Press...y'ever notice that all white people look alike??

and I'm continuing to watch the bike path mess on Carp Ave and can't understand the over-engineering...it's crazy!

bike path of destruction
bike path of destruction

Happy Trails to You!!

However, horses must also be allowed on the "multi-purpose" path otherwise it's no deal!! Do we understand each other??

East of Eden

Ice plant is good ground cover, doesn't need an irrigation system, is not invasive and provides beautiful flowers in spring for the bees and butterflies..

With these observations in mind, the City of Santa Barbara will kill off ice plant at East Beach that's been there forever, by covering it with plastic...another crazy scheme cooked up by the nativists...so they will plant natives, install an irrigation system, and cordon off the area with a fence...BUT, they will keep the ice plant roots for soil stabilization, which is why it was planted in the first place!!!

Natives and non-natives are beautiful

Why would they do this?? well, taxpayer money is there for the wasting so why not waste it on this stupid project?

there's plenty of non-natives like dandelions that actually fertilize the grasses but sure as shootin' someone will kill it with Round-Up...

madness

You Light Up My Life

you give me hope to carry on

if you're gonna dress up like a lady, at least shave your legs!!! geez

Trump is running for president again altho I don't know why...the guy's got way too many personality disorders!

well, there's this great big beautiful tree you can see from the highway but I think it's a shame not to light it up for the Christmas season...I think it would be cool...the travelers could see it instead of walls and miles of concrete...add some spirit to the silent nights of December...

the Cooper's hawks have been busy in the hood and I see one has a band on its leg...a breeder or perhaps a "highly trained researcher" did it but I wish they would stop attaching things to wild animals...

WTF??

why are we building 8-million-dollar bike paths for these clowns??

The Presence of Her Absence

lingers on

I'm sorry to see that musician Michael Towers has died but fondly recall seeing him as part of the duo Vance Or Towers in Santa Barbara ...they were playing a big promotion upstairs in an old brick building on lower State St, circa 1970s

Vance Or Towers..Glen and Michael were one of the first bands in Santa Barbara to get a big record company to produce their first album. There was quite a buzz in SB back in the day...Glen and Michael's "the Presence of Her Absence" remains a fine and moving song from an excellent album

I tried to team up with Glen after Towers left, he expressed some interest, but nothing ever happened...damn..I think I was intimidated by their talent!

"Vance Or Towers were a truly odd West Coast duo with a line in Sparks-style pop eccentricity and 10cc-esque satire. Though absolutely forgotten, the concept behind these two well-groomed cuties was that teenage girls could choose which one they liked best: Vance OR Towers. Pretty lame as concepts go, the band’s 1975 album on A&M is a different story, boasting both keyboard and guitar-driven rockers that anticipate much of the style and sound of the Quick as well as slick McCartney-style ballads. Far too good to be so unknown, the Vance Or Towers LP is prime fodder for a timely Revola/RPM reissue. Interesting trivia: this song, "Education Blues" is performed in the prom sequence of ‘Carrie.’ Yes, THAT ‘Carrie;’ look close and you’ll even see Vance Or Towers.

it was a wonderful time in Santa Barbara!

RIP Michael Towers

Walkin' on Sunshine

I'm walkin' on sunshine, whoa

There are many beautiful bike paths in America...they are not intrusive, they weren't squeezed into places where they don't fit, trees weren't chopped down to pour tons of concrete above and below ground...

Country path looks good!

simple and good

NICE!!

so I think the County of Santa Barbara and City of Carpinteria are completely confused as they attempt to build bike paths that simply don't belong. Putting city or urban bike paths in country areas is stupid!!

In Amsterdam, the people ride bikes everywhere...they don't need special paths with bells and whistles

bike path construction by the Salt Marsh...very bad

I say this as I watch Caltrans pour tons of concrete and God knows what else into the dirt for an urban-type bike path between Santa Claus Lane and Carp Ave Exit...8-million-dollars for this abomination....aided and abetted by the County of SB and City of Carp

The Modoc Preserve bike path is an on-going issue until a resolution is found, but whatever the County has up its sleeve can't bode well for the beauty of the area...
