You heard it here first that I read it on Noozhawk that Wendy filed for... OMG.. BANKRUPTCY!! That means the morally bankrupt News-Press, once a fine paper, is GONE!!

and it's too bad boo hoo...I liked her initial take on the Channel Islands animal slaughter by the Nature Con and National Parks Service, but she changed her tune giving money to the Center for Biological Diversity..and then all the anti-union stuff was just plain stupid and of course Nipper was no help as the bon vivant eyeing Wendy's riches...

UPDATE: I've been thinking about this and well, if it doesn't gel, it isn't aspic, and this ain't gellin'!

It's about Wendy, Nipper and Yolanda...Yolanda has been with Wendy a long time and Wendy seems to be protecting her...I think, without evidence, that Wendy and Yolanda are an item, as in lesbos, and Nipper's been there only for the camera! and they never married and so forth...

Remember Wendy was a big fan of the gay Santa Barbara mayor, Harriet Whatshername. Just my conspiracy theory....

and what about the Dr Laura caper? the Rob Lowe incident? the Peter Lance Fiasco? 

and the thousands of child porn images on a News-Press computer and Wendy (the NP owner) and Nipper's pathetic attempt to deflect blame away...the Buck never stopped with Wendy...until the bankruptcy, that is!

so yeah, it's just too bad all that ink was no match for all them gigabytes!!

The 8-million dollar sidewalk from Santa Claus Lane to Carp Ave has given me an 8-million dollar view, so I must retract my criticisms, not all, but most...and I will no longer refer to it as the 8-million dollar sidewalk, but rather the Coyote Trail...

There's nothing (almost nothing) I like more in summertime than watching osprey fly over the marsh on a beautiful  afternoon...this time it was the Navy...I've seen them fly the Osprey over but never maneuvers and it blew me away! 

The plane dropped so quick, then a few passes around the marsh, then rose and headed for the big tree down the highway and hovered for a few minutes...SO COOOL!! 

Then it picked up speed and headed straight for my balcony and I was freaking out, trying to take pics, then it was flying right by me so I gave the awesome crew a few fist pumps...

and that made my summer!

so, I've been watching the folks use the 8-milliion dollar sidewalk from Carp Ave to Santa Claus Lane, and though most of them look like they belong in a mental institution, they seem happy-go-lucky....and maybe, just maybe, I could learn to live with the bike lane if and when they wrap up construction...hubba hubba!!

Neil Young will be at the Bowl tonight...I pondered going, the tickets went fast, the prices were crazy-from $200 to $3000 a seat...from the Buffalo Springfield, to CSNY and the solo albums, and a few clunkers along the way, I have more than a few favorite Neil Young songs. But I'm happy to sit this one out...

still I'd love to see ol' Neil sing "Helpless" at the Bowl, under a July moon with 5000 other people...

Spotlight:  The Santa Claus Lane Bikeway will temporarily open on June 30, prior to the 4th of July weekend. The bikeway between Carpinteria Avenue and Santa Claus Lane will remain open until after Labor Day weekend. After that, the bikeway will re-close for the final installation of the barrier rail. Temporary railing is in place while the project awaits final materials. The project team wants everyone to enjoy the new bikeway as soon as possible.

WTF???? This 8-million dollar bike path-dog path from Santa Claus Lane is a fiasco. I've watched crews use tons of cement and purple rebar to build the safety barrier, I've watched crews pour the concrete sidewalk, rip it up and pour it again, I've watched crews stare at a hole for hours.  And now Caltrans is enclosing the bike path with chain link fences for the entire summer....unbelieveable! Well, they did manage to put an "Interpretive Sign" there for the dummies walking their dogs: DONT SWIM IN THE MARSH; DON'T RUN INTO TRAFFIC; DON'T CHASE THE TRAINS

Of course I've documented this because it is affecting my Carpinteria Salt Marsh views and the bird corridors of the once peaceful and beautiful Carp Ave Exit, which includes the marsh.

Maybe Caltrans finally figured out that this 8-million dollar bike path-dog path should never have been built, especially between the 101 Highway and the railroad tracks. A fast-moving train or car will make a mess of Fido.

This project was rushed, over-built, over-engineered, poorly planned and it shows.

I will pursue all legal means to hold Caltrans, The County of Santa Barbara, The City of Carpinteria and the Coastal Commission accountable for the damage done to this area.

Planet Of the Apes

Sometimes it feels like I'm on another planet run by apes from Caltrans, with subcontractors made up of gorillas and monkeys...

I watch them build an 8-million dollar sidewalk on Carp Ave Exit that has no rhyme or reason...this was once a bird/wildlife corridor...yesterday, they were jack-hammering sections of concrete out that were poured six months ago! and they pour more and more concrete and purple rebar...it never ends! Apes were running around measuring things they measured yesterday...DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!

The Apes are fussing over the safety guard barrier...painting, repainting and painting again...drilling into the top for unknown reasons 

Well, I saw a female running, not an ape-girl, but it's as though someone brought me a present but "This is a MADHOUSE---a MADHOUSE!!"

It is hard to photograph peregrine falcons because they are fast and flighty...sometimes they hover, sometimes they glide, but when they dive-bomb, they disappear...poof, gone!! that's 200 mph...that's fast

but one is in the neighborhood and when he took off toward the hills, I just pointed and clicked and just got him...

there's plenty of pigeons, doves and ducks around here...personally, I'd go for the duck l'orange with mashed potatoes infused with peppercorns and sage..

I loved the weeds on the Carp Ave Exit but CALTRANS came by and cut them all down...this is all part of the 8-million-dollar sidewalk scheme from Santa Claus Lane to Carp Ave...I'm watching this project like a hawk!

I watched the subcontractors for nearly a month try to drill holes in the new safety guard rail but maybe they forgot it's made of tons of concrete and purple rebar..tough on drill bits!

Today, they are laying an elaborate web of PVC irrigation lines to water the incoming native plants...this will be a high-maintenance garden that will ensure job security for the landscapers. But all CALTRANS needs to do is replant the ice plant that was there before...no separate irrigation system required, and ice plant is low-maintenance, flowers in spring and is good for bees and butterflies...the excuse they will use is ice plant is invasive/non-native but that is bullshit!!

and I've seen more than a few workers toking on something...cannabis or vaping...now that's real professional

I can't believe my tax money is going into this scam!! 

CALTRANS has too much power and the people need to cut them down to size

UPDATE: CALTRANS BANS CALIFORNIA POPPIES!

I was enjoying a little poppy bloom by the side of the road when CALTRANS sends a Sierra Landscape moron over to cut them down with a weed whacker...when I asked CALTRANs why they did that, a guy named Toby claimed they need the area cleared for upcoming planting...I hardly think a few poppies will offer much resistance when and if CALTRANS plants here..
