Lovely Rita

meter maid...

the story of the day is a long time CIVILIAN police administator in the parking citations division was busted by the City of Santa Barbara for embezzling parking ticket profits! I knew those parking meters were gold!! so my parking ticket which cost me $90 went into her pocket and probably to the HSN for some girly stuff....or I bet she went straight to the casino after work!!

apparently the Police Dept hires some non-sworn administrators to oversee things while real cops are out busting drunks like Peewee Lance! (thanks lovely Giana from Noozhawk for covering Peewee's trial..and it looks like the News-Press pulled Scott Steepleton off the story after I reported he was sitting and holding hands with Peewee in the court lobby!) and SB councilman Dale Francisco wants more civilians in the police dept!!

One of the Santa Barbara Police Department’s top civilian employees was arrested on suspicion of embezzling more than $100,000 in parking ticket revenue over several years, the department said Friday.
Karen Flores, supervisor of the department’s business office, was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of grand theft and held on $250,000 bail, according to a department spokesman. She was placed on unpaid administrative leave.
Investigators started examining the department’s business practices about seven months ago, when officials from the city’s finance department uncovered inconsistencies in records related to parking citation fees.

now the city had had trouble before with greedy employees..the city staff busted the city finance director who was funneling city funds to an Orange County derivitive scam...this was back on Harriet Miller's watch....malfeasance doesn't happen often, but it does happen and the workers are usually the ones who discover it, not investigative reporters!

but I can't figure why they have civilians in the police dept...most civilians are rotten to the core..just turn on the news and some civilian has killed someone, molested someone, stolen from someone, cut some kid up and put him in a refrigerator..and so on....and now Rita's reputation has been tarnished, filling in a ticket in her little white book...I tell ya, I don't trust you civilians one little bit!

the day of the dolphin

hey Teabaggers..guess what's coming next..SMART TV!!!

it's Fiesta and there's a parade in Santa Barbara...my washer/ dryer is NOT SMART so I have to wait for the repair guy this morning...sorry but I must have clean clothes so everything stops until it's fixed!

Peter Lance is lucky I won't be watching him today...

it burns me up the hit job he's been allowed to do on Beutel, so maybe it's best I stay away today..no telling what I might do..but they won't take me alive if I pop..

Kasi, you're on your own baby..and the sharks are circling....actually going around in circles....chasing the same old stories...I want some new information not the same old bullshit.. I want a Peter Lance DUI trial date....I want some justice....

remember the parable about Joanna spending three days and night in the belly of the whale....
well Kasi you might find yourself in that belly....but don't worry..the message is lost on that Reverend James bigot and all the rest.....but not us.....we know that when the sailors cast Joanna into the sea, the sea ceased her raging...and the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow up Joanna, as you're being swallowed up, and Joanna spent three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish.....hell, that Kenny dude couldn't even catch a fish, the lying little sonofabitch!
but you will hang out in the fish for awhile until the light of truth hooks their squinty little alcoholic eyes..and you shall be set free..as the truth sets people free...as the fish set Joanna free...

and... investors panicked like little sheep so I'll be buying some cheap stocks...

Saturday, the rodeo's coming...ANIMAL ABUSE at its finest...

so....what goes down must come up....what goes in must come out...
the oracle will explain all this soon enough

que sera sera

whatever will be, will be...or will it??

when I go to the news-press website, I check the headlines..today I read the paper for free online because the News-Press thinks my name is Doris...so I'm expecting the News-Press will investigate me for fraud and hacking into their website....but really, I'm not Doris, I'm Mick...

anyway.... here's a story by Scott Steepleton that the are hoping will fry Kasi Beutel..but as usual, we don't get all the facts, we don't get the whole story....so I need to get Scott's interpretation on the record, right here..again thank-you Doris! and thank you, Doris Day!!

SCOTT STEEPLETON, NEWS-PRESS CITY EDITOR
August 4, 2011 12:00 AM
The city of Santa Barbara has temporarily withdrawn a request that a commercial fisherman reimburse workers' compensation payments incurred by taxpayers for injuries police Officer
Kasi Beutel claims she suffered arresting the man two years ago while the fraud division of the state Department of Insurance investigates the claim.

At the same time, the News-Press has learned that the city miscalculated the amount Michael Kenny was told he owed by about $7,000, a fact that was not publicly acknowledged until reports of the arrest and subsequent workers' comp fraud investigation were reported in the News-Press by investigative journalist Peter Lance.

Instead of the originally stated amount in the matter of what was claimed to be a shoulder injury, authorities now say Mr. Kenny owes about $834, blaming the error on a snafu by a risk management analyst who'd been on the job only a month.
On Wednesday, Santa Barbara City Attorney Stephen Wiley notified District Attorney Joyce Dudley by letter that, given the circumstances, the city was withdrawing a request for court-ordered restitution until the state investigation is finished.
"It is likely, at that point," Mr. Wiley writes in the letter obtained by the News-Press, "that the city will elect to pursue restitution from Mr. Kenny using appropriate civil remedies."
Mr. Wiley also states that the city and his office would "take full responsibility for explaining all of this to the Department of Insurance and for convincing them there was nothing inappropriate or excessive. . .over a job-related shoulder injury."

An injury, which Mr. Lance has reported in a series on possible wrongdoing by Officer Beutel, was never mentioned in the officer's report of the night in question.
The officer claimed DUI suspect Mr. Kenny kicked her in the right hip, but it was not until almost three months later that she filed a workers' compensation claim over a shoulder injury she suffered "while taking Kenny into custody," according to documents obtained by Mr. Lance, himself facing a DUI charge after being arrested New Year's Day by Officer Beutel.
After initially submitting a workers' compensation claim on the officer's behalf that included injury-related time off following the 2009 arrest, the city discovered the risk analyst had actually pulled timesheets for Officer Beutel from two years earlier when she took time off for an injury she suffered when she "tripped and fell while responding to a traffic collision," according to an Aug. 2 memo from Mark Howard, Santa Barbara's risk manager, to Mr. Wiley.
As for Mr. Kenny, the district attorney dropped DUI and battery charges against him, and he ended up pleading no contest to resisting arrest.

On June 17, two years after the arrest, Darryl Genis, Mr. Kenny's attorney, received a letter from the city stating: "Officer Beutel has now completed treatment for these injuries which included $2,274.02 in paid medical costs to date and $5,488.87 in temporary disability payments."
The letter also stated the city asked the District Attorney's Office to "request that charges against Michael Kenny include restitution for the damages," which total $7,762.89.
Unbeknownst to Mr. Genis, the letter was dated 10 days after the city notified the District Attorney's Office that it had erred in the amount owed.
The restitution hearing is set for 11 a.m. today before Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Jean Dandona. Despite the D.A.'s desire to put it off, Mr. Genis said he will object.
"What they're saying is, 'Yes, she did have a claim related to the arrest of Michael Kenny,' and, 'Yes, it was for $7,762.89,' and, 'No, she didn't have any time off, this was just a huge mistake,' " Mr. Genis said.

"The problem with that is she testified at a DMV hearing in Ventura that she did take some time off. She was equivocal about it," said Mr. Genis. "It seems to me that this is a really elaborate way of throwing smoke and mirrors out and making it all go away."

so that's Scott's story....but will he stick by it??

Kindergarten Cops...

cops are babysitters now?? yes, they are!

I need SB councilman Rowse to stop saying "it is what it is"...I know it is,what else could it be, what it isn't?? please....it is what it is

after watching the Lance pretrial hearings in person, it is clear that one thing is missing...the mental issue..fuck the handwriting experts, we need psychological experts... someone to read the handwriting on the brain....an evaluation of Lance and Cruz..I'm serious..both these guys have clear issues with authority and narcissism..and definitely a host of other issues...the Lance and Genis Sideshow is costing taxpayers money....why not put that money to good use..I mean, every time they enter the Court, they try to disrupt proceedings!

so I demand that Lance and Cruz be subjected to a formal mental evaluation to determine if they are crazy, as I suspect they are...and that would prove that Officer Beutel is being accused/stalked by a bunch of psychos!!!

and now the News-Press continues to try Officer Beutel in the media in concert with Lance's trial...to hear the News-Press/Lance tell it, poor Peter was arrested by a cop who commits perjury, fraud, forgery and abuses teens on a regular basis...what next, she's being investigated for pulling tails off puppies??

Lance is writing again that the state is investigating Beutel for worker's comp fraud now....and he repeats the story about Mike Kenny, the slacker fisherman who resisted arrest....Lance is digging like a Channel Island pig rooting in the sweet virgin native soil..this is the same old same old stuff....it seems everyone will be investigating Officer Beutel...which doesn't mean she guilty of a thing..however, if Lance says it enough times in the press, he's hoping for some return of the investment...publicity to cast himself as the innocent victim...
now the fact that Lance is writing these articles is bad enough..his contempt for the courts, for the cops, for the justice system is evident and therefore, he's simply not credible....and all his allegations should be thrown out....

if the case goes to court, there's so much that Lance and Genis have presented that should be inadmissable..too many uncertainties with the claims against Beutel..the issue is Lance's DUI..although he and the News-Press want to shift the focus to Beutel...

when you are throwing accusations at a cop, you need to have more than Wendy's money backing you....you need to have personal integrity and credibilty..Lance has none; Cruz has none; Kenny has none.....there's a pattern among these folks.. and they don't need a judge at this point, they need a shrink......I think some of these guys have a screw loose..or maybe a cork loose..HAHAHA!

arrested development

geez, I haven't had this much fun since I chased that chicken around the ranch on a drunken lonesome moonlit night!

so I get up and go to the Courthouse for the continuing prelim of the Lance DUI trial...it takes me 45 minutes to get from Carp to Santa Barbara due to the traffic..#$%%^^@!!!!

but it's such a nice day..Santa Barbara is very nice in the morning and I am virtually carefree...I get to the Courthouse at about 8:45 am for the 9:00 am start...there's some familiar faces...there's Kasi Beutel with a flower in her hair...

there's Peter Lance, Cruzito Cruz and Scott Steepleton sitting on a bench together...there's Jerry Roberts walking by....and there's that stringy haired gal..... look, it's Mr. Wimpy dressed in black, walking past me a few times, looking like an old demented gay blackbird....

I'm waiting but there's an 8:30 AM hearing in Courtroom #2 that's spilling over into 9:15 AM..so I go in anyway..no metal detectors this time...I sit down and it's the Corey Lyons hearing wrapping up..this guy is accused of double murder...his first two trials were thrown out, so now a third is in the works?? ....let him go for Pete's sake! and he looks much less threatening in person...

then finally the Lance hearing began.....this thing took more twists and turns than a college girl pole dancing.....mmmmmm

while seated near the back, I took a picture and the cop came over and told me no cameras.. I said ok, sorry... I could have stood up and cried like a baby but I didn't because I'm not a baby!! I obey the law, unlike other people...then the judge issued an order: no cameras..period... some previous images in the press of Lance cheering and coaching the witnesses was not good....

new and improved....

Judge Hill began the proceedings with a much different demeanor...new and improved...although he still likes to take the long way home, at least he was much more forceful and direct today......he picked up his voice and laid down some ground rules and cited the coverage by the newpapers and blogs of the first hearing!!
he scolded Genis and Lance for their antics at the first hearing and promised that any other disrespect shown the court will result in sanctions....he warned Genis that some of his earlier statements like the judge was filibustering were close to contempt...

he went back and forth with both lawyers telling them what he expected of them and how to behave, like professionals.. he asked them "do you understand me??"

Lance mumbled yes...Genis was almost in tears....Kasi's lawyer Horowitz agreed, then they all argued about emails..Lance is sending Kasi emails, Kasi is sending the Reverend emails...the judge said the parties are acting silly and would consider restraining orders to keep them from contacting each other since they can't seem to act civilly towards each other...haha

Genis then complains that there's too many cops in the court room ( I count three ) and they are intimidating his clients! Judge Hill scoffed at that and said there's also some lawyers, interns, and many other folks in the courtroom..so what...

then all of a sudden Cruzito Cruz who is sitting at the back of the room stands up and starts clapping at something Lance or Genis said...then he starts shouting at the judge!!
this dude Cruz is mui retardo!!

Hill tells Cruz to leave and Cruz keeps getting angrier shouting a bunch of gibberish..then the police escort him out, rather forcefully...I don't know what happened in the lobby but I heard lots of commotion and saw a lot of cops when the door swung open...

next... Peter Lance started in on the judge, shouting at him like a two year old and Hill kept warning him: Mr Lance..Mr Lance..

but Mr Lance wouldn't quit! so Judge Hill told him to leave the court room....Lance was up on his feet, mumbling and shouting, looking at Genis who just stood there with a shocked look on his face!! Lance yelled about the court being the Nuremberg trial or some such thing... he was defiant so two cops came over and grabbed him by the arms...Lance cried.. "leave me alone, I can get out on my own".....but they escorted him out anyway....kinda like reporters getting escorted out of the News-Press during the meltdown....these guys Lance and Cruz are acting like spoiled brats craving attention....whaaa whaaa whaaa!

wow...I was sitting next to a beautiful lady who smelled like a flower, but this courtroom outburst was almost as exciting!!

then Mr Wimpy who was flitting around every five minutes, in and out of the court room like a Nervous Nellie, runs out into the lobby and starts shouting at the cops, telling them to leave Peter alone...like he was trying to protect his boyfriend!!!

I was cracking up and wouldn't be surprised if Lance, Cruz and Mr. Wimpy ended up in jail...what a bunch of twinkies!!

after the fire works, the witnesses signed some papers..the judge ruled that they didn't have to testify..instead they signed declarations....Genis said he wanted to put Beutel on the stand so the media could check her body language...WTF does that have to do with anything? she blinked therefore she's guilty??? Judge Hill said no...

and then I left....and I don't know what happens next...but I'll find out sooner or later..I kinda like it around Court Room #2...

here come da judge

restraining orders??

Judge Brian Hill

throws Peter Lance and Cruzito Cruz out of his courtroom...both were belligerent, yelling and escorted out by police officers!!

hearings were left in limbo!

details tomorrow!!

Hill Street Blues

pretty poison...

well it's Monday and I'm thinking all the good looking women are on the run, locked up or in court..all you goody two shoes chicks are are a waste of my time..I'm going for the troubled gals now because I'm hooked.....and besides I might need one to commit a crime for me someday....

normally I don't go anywhere in the morning but since this is the Lance Vs Beutel bout, I am still curious to see what justice is wearing today...and I've decided to dress smarter....I've got a few options and consulted Ward Robey who is a distant cousin of Robe Roblinski..he suggested I go with some Orvis apparel...a cotton breathable long-sleeve tee and cotton shorts...much better....but 9:00 AM? I don't know..that's awfully early

but I may want to see if Judge Hill is still in clown mode or he's considering being an effective and lucid facilitator of the proceedings.....will we have another show with freaks rushing to the microphones, with directives not being followed due to lack of communication....will anyone else wear cowboy boots besides Lance?? if Lance is this excitable when he's sober, he must be very sleepy when he's a had a few!!

will Judge Hill let everything into the trial..Kasi Beutel arrested over 300 people for DUI and only 4 or 5 have the same issue that Lance had.....they don't remember if they signed a waiver...hmmmm...what would be a student's motivation or a student's parent's motivation for trying to get a DUI case thrown out??

DUI Conviction Affects on Financial Aid and Scholarships
A DUI can affect financial aid in other ways. Many federal programs will not award financial aid to individuals with felony DUI convictions. Requirements for private scholarships or financial aid programs will depend on the rules set by the organization that runs the program. Some will only be concerned with felony convictions. However, others will ask if you have ever been arrested or convicted of any offense, including DUI’s. If you are in the running for a scholarship, even a DUI arrest can tip the scales against you in a close award decision.

thankfully our system of justice says you don't have to prove your innocence....hahahahahah..that was a joke..

good luck to all the folks caught in this mess....and if they weaken the cops ability to deal with drunk drivers, I guess that leaves the citizens to take care of business..one way or another....
if that happens there'll be no forms to sign, no Trombetta waivers for me to forge, no calling mommy and daddy to drive you home, no towing your Rover, no breathalysers or polite conversation....none of that will happen..if I smell alcohol on you, you're going to jail for 3 months to dry out...and to make it worthwhile for the taxpayers , you'll be on work detail, too....

it'll be just me and you....you and me, against the world
