when I went up to Monterey years ago, I saw a few wineries along the way...seemed like no big deal because I also saw garlic and lettuce farms and giant cut-outs of farmworkers...just another day trip in California..but now, there's wineries everywhere...up in Santa Ynez, the wineries and tasting rooms are a business in and of themselves....
just as long as they don't come to Carp, I'll be fine with it..I'd much rather hang out naked in an avocado grove than a vineyard...
now, the news recently has been about a guy named Chris Marks who was found dead at the bottom the cliffs of Leadbetter beach....all sorts of stories and rumors have come out but the family looks weird to me....very conservative and white bread American yet dealing in alcoholic beverages..
Marks was a supporter of Wendy's Young Miss America Foundation and it looks like his kid is on the board of an offshoot called Young American's for Freedom: Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is now a project of Young America's Foundation.....
his kids also attended St Joseph's High School in Orcutt where two school administrators were recently found guilty of not reporting a legitimate rape..just like the Catholic church did..look the other way!! dumbasses
and this is the winery owned by Marks:
Sweeney Canyon Vineyard-Chris Marks, Vineyard Manager, and Kristi Marks, Winemaker, were both very popular and pouring their red and white wines. Chris was pouring the award-winning Pinot Noirs from Santa Rita Hills and Kristi was pouring a 2006 Chardonnay, Santa Rita Hills.
so we got nonprofits and wineries- two things that make me insane ..a bunch of dimwits who don't know what real work is, trying to get tax exempt status so they can form silly social clubs of conservative trustfunders waiting for the next handout from the likes of Wendy McCuckoo....
it's all a house of cards that will eventually fall....
and the mysterious death of Chris Marks has been covered in the Independent..
but I wonder why a guy with all the outward signs of being a good Christian who loved Reagan and God and wine and Phyllis, would end up dead at the bottom of a cliff at Leadbetter beach...
I of course can only speculate but it seems folks connected to the News-Press purse strings, whether directly or indirectly, end up either dead or busted for DUI!
it's true! there's some weird sinister God/Satanic force at work there..maybe the ink is contaminated??
on the one hand everyone is all church lady pious and focusing on the family but on the other hand everyone is smacked out businesswise or otherwise...do you see the dichotomy?? the irony?? the absurdity?? the insanity??
I don't know what happened to poor Christopher Marks, but if Wendy couldn't help him, if God couldn't help him, if the Young Miss America Foundation couldn't help him, if a bottle of wine couldn't help him and if the wife (hmmmm, the wife) couldn't help him, who could??

was it a hit....did Wendy set up a hit?? maybe Marks stiffed her and Nipper on some wine for News-Press Wine Club and so Wendy hired a hit man to whack the dude...maybe Wendy is training members of the Young Miss America Foundation as assassins! indoctrinating them!!

Another interesting note. Blanco then placed all his real estate holdings into LNA which is run by his daughter and untouchable if he were to find himself in legal issues. Yet another interesting turn here in wine country.
