walkin' after midnight

I go out walking after midnight
Out in the moonlight, just like we used to do
I'm always walking after midnight, searching for you..

tea time

so I see Matt Dies, the father of Mallory, wrote to the News-Press Page 2, praising them for their fourth estate duty...Peter Lance always uses this term to describe a newspaper's job as gov't watchdog....I got no problem with that until the watchdog becomes corrupt, as is the case of the News-Press and Peter Lance..chasing ratings or political agendas instead of keeping the public informed without fear or favor of friend or foe..the News-Press used to do that, but not anymore....

so Matt Dies is understandably upset his daughter was killed by a drunk driver who worked for Lois Capps...but his rant was teabagger stuff and not at all credible

Matt's problem is he believes everything Peter Lance wrote without a judicial review or investigation to be completed....the FBI investigated Lefty, golf great Phil Mickleson for insider trading allegations..are we to believe Phil is guilty before the investgation is complete?

well they completed the investgation and found no evidence that Lefty was guilty of anything....

Matt Dies needs money for whatever reason and the gov't is deep pockets..he won't get much from Raymond Morua, the guy who killed his daughter...

maybe Matt could go after the booze makers, or the folks who initiated the invasion of Iraq which caused Raymond so many mental issues...Matt Dies could sue everyone..

and that fact that Peter Lance was busted for DUI seems to be lost on Matt, who appears to be pretty stupid...Lance was DUI but didn't man up, he lawyered up..in the process, he went to the News-Press and wrote a long series about the cop who busted him..basically smeared her and others..Lance was not vindicated or exonerated, but he did get off on a misreading of the law by Judge Brian Hill....the hearing was a circus and you can read all about it on this blog...Lance is a salesman, not a reporter..maybe Matt should ask Peter why he wasn't doing a series in the News-Press on drunk driving instead of trying to wiggle out of his own DUI by blaming the cops (gov't)

so that's whiskey under the bridge, but the latest Lance investigation seems to be relying on info provided by Raymond Morua, a two time DUI loser and convicted embezzler..why would anyone believe him??

maybe if Matt Dies was a better father, his daughter would be alive having pursued more productive career avenues than bartending....

once you start blaming gov't for your problems, you over-estimate their powers..and undervalue your own...

Winery Death

http://www.noozhawk.com/article/fatality_reported_in_vehicle_accident_near_buellton

so I see a Buellton woman was killed in an ATV, or All-Terrain vehicle accident in Buellton...Noozhawk had the story...
but I had to search to see who was involved...apparently the driver Holly Brooks was killed and a passenger, Alyssa Whitcraft jumped off the vehicle just in time..both gals are associated with the Wine/Wine Tasting Industry...

Holly Brooks and the Pence Ranch
Holly delights in entertaining and managing special events at the ranch. Coming from a family of pioneers in the veterinary field, Holly takes special interest in the animals we raise and frequently serves as their on-site vet. She also manages the gardens, including a broad collection of roses, fruit trees, and other specimens. She can often be seen flying by on an ATV, off to the next project! Holly and Blair live on the ranch in the original 1907 residence, which Holly has carefully restored and decorated to reflect its heritage.

her passenger, Alyssa Whitcraft who escaped injury, is part of the family who owns Whitcraft Winery ...they get grapes and wine from the Pence Ranch among other grape growers...so there's the connection

well, I hope there was no alcohol involved but speeding around after midnight in wine country on an ATV and then crashing sounds suspicious.....

or maybe just damn unlucky.. I wonder what's really going on with all these winery people? hmmmm

If the Raymond Morua case had gone to trial, I wonder if the autopsy report on Mallory Dies would have been released, and what information it might contain.

Great line!

Absolutely. You can take the party girl out of UCSB, but you can't take her away from the bars... at least very far away. Saint Mallory, the State Street booze slinger. If you weren't such a sucker being played like tool by Peter Lances and the news-press I'd almost feel sorry for you. You wanna show your daughter some respect? Shut the fuck up already.

A day without a child dying is like a day without sunshine for writer Steepleton. It's like deja vu whenever he gets ahold of one of these pieces.

If Peter Lance really wanted to make a name for himself, he could show everyone how he manages to grow younger every year, instead of older. According to his Match.com profile, writerinsb is 56. That's amazing for someone born in 1948!

Lying on Match.com? Tsk, tsp. Yes, the lead journalist for the News Mess making up facts. What does that say about his stories? But Wendy will never let go of him. Like all rich people without any accomplishments to their name other than "I stepped into shit" they become leeches on those who have done something with their lives. They're worse than than groupies who suck dick for fifteen minutes of fame.Who wouldn't hate to have all that money and look into a mirror and say "I've never done a fucking thing in my life." So they need glamorous friends (who they buy with long ocean cruises) to make them feel special. Lance? That Emmy of his must look awful shiny to the owner of the dingy News-Press which speciality is printed peoples delinquent water bills. And the dunces managing the paper say "oh, yes. We're a real paper now." As if...

"Glamorous friends" might be an apt description for the personalities linked to Wendy McCaw and the News-Press over the years. Rob Lowe, Dr. Laura, Kathy Ireland, Robert Eringer, Richard Mineards. And how about Kirk and Michael Douglas, pictured in a photograph with her on the biography page of her official Web site. Did I leave anyone out?

Holly Brooks was an angel..how awful you are to pass judgement

A family member said...

Holly Brooks was twice the person you will ever be. What a coward you are, hiding behind your computer screen, making up stories, rumors, speculations about people you've never met. Examine yourself, man. And get a FUCKING LIFE.

Really? What are you thinking when so many people are grieving for the loss of their friend? What does this blog do to help our community anyway? Being judgmental is not helpful, just hurtful. Find ways to bring people together, not tear them apart. You should be ashamed for being so mean-spirited.

Your comments are careless, cavalier, and just downright inflammatory. "... speeding around after midnight in wine country on an ATV and then crashing sounds suspicious....."

For your information, ATV's are used for all sorts of purposes: transportation of goods and peoples, in this case, from the main home to the campfire/bbq area and back again at end of a lovely evening.

SPEED was not a factor; it was an accident that occurred at a very low rate of speed.

Finally, there is no MAYBE about it: It was an unlucky, horribly tragic accident that caused the death of a wonderful woman, who just happened to be in the wine industry. There is no HMMMM about it, you ignorant, careless person.
