Don't know when things went wrong
Don't know when things went wrong
first, Ty Warner commited an illegal act of tax evasion but the New-Press didn't call him an illegal...no instead, they ran the story that Ty got a light sentence because he's such a great and charitable guy and paid restitution after he got caught... well whatever, I still think Ty is a freak...but he's got a new toy coming out called "Beaner Babies"!
then we have Scott Steepleton questioning Lois Capps and her revision of marriage terms "husband and wife" which I think makes sense now that gays can get married..I mean you can't have a husband and a husband or a wife and a wife...so if two queer gals marry each other they are spouses not wives...and as Scott says, it's illegal to threaten the president's wife, but not the president's husband.. ?????? I think Scott was drunk when he wrote this story
then we have the Unity Shoppe getting deeper in debt..the nonprofit was a good idea in the beginning but ran into trouble with too many real estate purchases and having Nipper's pals do the telethons..Dr. Laura, Herman, and other dimwits turned it into a joke ..instead of a charity...Poor Kenny Loggins..he lost control...
then Scott uses the San Francisco shooting of a young woman by an illegal as powder to explode the sanctuary city issue...and the quote on the front page by a SB city council candidate Lennie Colleen Ford is straight out of the racist Minuteman Project...."find every illegal and deport them" she says...well violent crime in the USA is not a new thing but shipping 11 million illegals back to Mexico won't stop crime...Americans seemingly love to kill each other..so the "illegals" nonsense is racist scapegoating....
and a loser for the GOP who try to turn these isolated incidents into a national disaster..
WWII..we asked Mexico for help with the war effort and they crossed the border freely..they weren't "illegal" then...
it's high time America and Mexico joined forces..we have more in common with Mexico than say Texas or Alabama....I could jet down to Mexico then fly over to Cuba for some real fun...and drink aged whiksky with some dark-eyed Cherokee gals
that would be my version of the America Dream

Scott must have a new assignment — write whatever you want, as long as it gets people riled up enough to keep reading the News-Press.
Such a garish spectacle, especially the neutered Artie, Scott and Don ceaselessly spouting reactionary propaganda to an unreceptive audience until their shrill eunuch voices go hoarse. Craig, this is what your success hath wrought? Force a sale, man. Convince her it's best. People are embarrassed for you.

Ha! That the best part. Wendy McCaw CAN'T sell the News-Press! A) No one would buy it. B) A newspaper is practically a public trust. Can you imagine the outrage if she shut it down! Not even McCaw has the money to buffer her against the outrage if she even dared to try and close the paper! She's stuck with it!
And yeah, the is definitely trying to go the "controversial" tabloid route. It can't even pull that off intelligently!
She must be doing something right because all you guys do is bitch about a paper you claim is junk. Bill Hurst would be proud - it sells papers and that is what they are in business for.
What would you whiners do without it? The News-Press is not any better or worse than any of the papers in this this country. They are all noise between what is left of advertising written by interns and borderline "journalists." So what? It is the new world with the Internet creating on demand news/noise 24/7. It is all junk: Quantity and cheep over quality.
If you are as good as you imply, why not purchase it yourself and have at it? Sitting on the porch complaining about the same thing everyday gets old. You guys claim to be better so prove it.
Otherwise stop reading it and try a book. Better yet, write one.

From James L. Brooks' "Broadcast News" --
"Please don't get me wrong when I tell you that Tom, while being a very nice guy, is the Devil. What do you think the Devil is going to look like if he's around? Nobody is going to be taken in by a guy with a long, red, pointy tail! He will be attractive! He'll be nice and helpful. He'll get a job where he influences a great God-fearing nation. He'll never do an evil thing! He'll never deliberately hurt a living thing... he will just bit by little bit lower our standards where they are important. Just a tiny little bit. Just coax along flash over substance. Just a tiny little bit. And he'll talk about all of us really being salesmen."
