midnight to six

I never see / The people I know / In the bright light of day / So how can I say / That you're any friend of mine / (See you anytime) / I'm feelin' fine / (Midnight 'til six)

life all boils down to a good rocknroll song...you can cry and bitch and moan..you can laugh and play and cheat your way through this little passion play, but if you don't understand the basic elements, the essence...if you haven't ever worked from midnite to six, or jumped up and down when the band played, then you might as well stop reading right now...

I seemed to have missed the Pretty Things....a band steeped in rocknroll history...I recently re-found them on Youtube..and they blew me away...they were so good....these British guys....check it out and check out the beat..

that is the essence!

The Pretty Things were hugely influential in rock and roll. Dick Taylor recruited Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to form the precursor to the band before he met up later with Phil May. Jagger and Richards went over to Brian Jones' new band and Taylor and May formed the Pretty Things.

David Bowie modeled his entire act on Phil May (it's been said that he was Phil May but just with fancier clothes.) May's early rock opera (SF Sorrow) was also what influenced the Who to write Tommy even though the Who denied it.

Their alter ego pseudonym band was called the Electric Banana which did a lot of recording for film soundtracks. 'Don't Bring Me Down' was probably the Pretty Things biggest hit.
