dogs....little furry creatures that have fleas and crap everywhere and hump legs...did you know 40% of households in America have a dog according to the Humane Society of the United States..oh really...40%..that's means 60% of us don't have dogs...
The Humane Society states that 40 percent of households in the United States have at least one dog in the family and Palm Springs is at the national average and perhaps higher. The park not only serves this large local community but also provides a valuable and visible service to the great number of seasonal dog owning visitors to the city every year.
that means I'm in the majority!! and yet, the pampering continues..the lies about coyotes killing your little pets..well, it's probably the big dog down the street who killed Muffy...it's on the record, but why should facts deter you from letting your dog bite my ankle? well, I probably deserve it..
so I'm checking up on old friends and I see Travis Armstrong is still in Palm Springs and instead of working against the city gov't, writing editorial lies for a whackjob newspaper owner, he's actually helping his new city out out....Travis is helping city hall!
and the thing that binds Travis and the Mayor is a dog park!
I swear to Dog, Travis is VOLUNTEERING and working with the city of Palm Springs to help improve the park for little gay dogs to run around in...now, gayness is common in nature but it's a small percentage of the overall population..and of course that's because we need men and soft supple women to keep the species going...
according to the Desert Valley Star:
“During this time of year I encounter people on a daily basis at the park who are thrilled to have such a great place to bring their dogs during their stay here. We all know the importance of these visitors to our economy,” Cochrane said.
“The point is the Palm Springs dog park serves a very large and important constituency in the community and deserves the attention and resources necessary to become the show place it has the potential to be and promoted as such. Besides I’m getting a little tired of always hearing about how great the dog parks are in Palm Desert.”
In an outreach effort, volunteer Travis Armstrong launched a website to promote the fundraising at www.palmspringsdogs.com. The website addresses the immediate concern of laying new sod and offers a link to the City donation forms which can be printed out and mailed in. (Warning: Since the website is so new, Google and Yahoo search engines are not finding it, so type the website address directly into your browser to locate the site).
“Much of the grass in the once-green park is dead and gone. Dirt and mud have replaced the greenery. The City has not reseeded the park in three years but has been forthright in saying mistakes were made regarding repairs and improvements. Part of the problem they said was a shift in maintenance duties within the City government.”
But that’s the past. This growing group of dog park users met again on Wednesday with the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Assistant City Manager. These City officials said they are interested in putting down sod in phases rather than just reseeding because of the poor shape of the turf. This way the entire park wouldn’t have to be closed because the City would do the lay sod in stages.
Here’s the rub. The city officials also said they are in the midst of a budget process and might not have all the money needed to resod the entire park right away. Dog park users can help by donating money directly to the City through the volunteer’s website. However, people need to do it quickly before the season passes to lay the new sod.
Together the City government, businesses, valley residents and visitors can restore this unique space to its former glory to provide dogs the safe and clean open space they need and deserve. The Friends of Palm Springs Dog Park will meet again on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the park located behind city hall. so...I gotta read about the 40 percenters who are so self-absorbed that they need a special park for their little bitches to run around in, while the sixty percenters do all the real work and take care of business...geez...America is getting fruitier by the minute....

but I'm happy to see Travis doing something constructive, if frivolous, for a change!

Did you see the Peter Lance editorial on the front page? An opinion piece disguised as news is nothing new for Wendy's rag. But how about that first sentence. It might be the longest first sentence in News-Press history.
well, I saw it and I'll have something to say about tomorrow!
I don't know if Travis will ever try to make amends to all of the people he harmed at the direction of Wendy McCaw. Perhaps showing compassion to animals will help with his personal healing.
A few years back I ran into a former News-Press reporter. She had changed jobs at least twice because Travis was pressuring her new boss to fire her and she found the situation too stressful. Once on Wendy's "enemies" list can people ever find peace in their lives again?
Sounds like another failed government program.
i believe that you are giving this Travis guy way to much credit. he tried to take over the dog park and most do not care for him and now only goes on off hours as no one can stand him, which is fine for us not to have to see him in his size 60 waist shorts XXXXL orange t shirts. Believe me this guy has few friends in PS.
"The most hated man in Santa Barbara" is back writing for the Desert Sun in beautiful Palm Springs. And being a "dick" tater as the president of an HOA in Palermo, Palm Springs. What an ego!! Thousands weep!
