well I was glad to sea Ty Warner's name fell off the Sea Center due to the weight of his own hubris..and it's way past time...I called for Ty to remove his name when he got caught cheating the taxman a few years ago..talk about illegal!! Ty's excuse in a News-Press story was an "unhappy childhood"...illegals should use that excuse and they'd get amnesty!!
that is one pissed off octopus!! |
the judge however praised Ty and let him off with some community service due to his vast wealth from selling Beanie Babies to idiots...then Ty's Channel Drive architectural monstrosities ushered in a new era of clueless wealthy snits building showhouses...the Butterfly Beach estate vibe is gone...
but naming things after people got me thinking...it's very nice in some cases but very wrong in other cases...at the Santa Barbara Bowl, they got Jerry Garcia Glen...ok the Grateful Dead...Jerry was an ok guitar player but a much better steel guitarist..very talented there..but not exactly a health nut..killed himself with heroin...maybe the Grateful Dead Glen is better..or maybe they just named the rock after Jerry..y'know..rocknroll
then further up the hill you get to the Wendy McCaw Terrace...or whatever..I couldn't find it..but it's part of the Pavilion I hear
this is totally inappropriate..you think of a pavilion, you think of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in LA..Dorothy Chandler..it's a grand name that evokes class and wonder, like the woman herself...
but the Wendy McCaw Terrace...if I were a dog, I'd piss on it...
stop splattering Santa Barbara landmarks with unworthy names just because they throw some money at you..the fewer names the better...Stearn's Wharf is good: Naomi Schwartz building in SB is good..
Wendy and Ty...very bad..no more sugar from these two clowns

You can't see the "Wendy McCaw Terrace" because it's where child molesters pull kids off into the woods for photos.
