that'll be the day

Well, that'll be the day, when you say goodbye. Yes, that'll be the day, when you make me cry. You say you're gonna leave, you know it's a lie 'Cause that'll be, when I die

so I drive thru Montecito yesterday and billionaire Craig McCaw's restaurant is still covered in a green tarp! STILL!!! after three or four years!!!  how hard can it be to remodel a little restaurant?? kind of a metaphor for the shape of conservatives today

meanwhile back at the ranch.....

NP: The sons of two conservative icons drew a crowd to Friday's Wendy P. McCaw Reagan Ranch Roundtable Luncheon. The panel, hosted by radio host Mark Larson, was light in tone, featuring impressions of Ronald Reagan by his eldest son, Michael Reagan, but included a serious discussion of his and Barry Goldwater's effects on the political landscape. Michael Reagan and Michael Goldwater, son of the senator from Arizona, talked about the intersections of the political careers of their fathers....

STOP right there! first of all, Michael Reagan is the bastard adopted son of Ron...second of all Michael Goldwater is..uh, I doan know who he is other than the idiot son of Barry Goldwater..third of all, the moderator is Mark Larson, a conservative radio host! what a pussy job!!

but thankfully Barry Goldwater was never elected president and Ron Reagan was an actor and president..not very good at either role...

now reading the article, the News-Press is trying to tell me that Goldwater was all about desegregation...Goldwater?? the News-Press says Barry "racially integrated" the Arizona Air Force and National Guard in 1947 yet didn't support the Civil Rights Act!! WTF???

Reagan and Goldwater sons discuss why they are losers!

in reality, Goldwater was creepy..even as a kid I knew he was creepy..those thick glasses and white hair...Buddy Holly he wasn't!!

Eleanor Roosevelt was calling for integration of the armed services before anyone else!!

but Barry wasn't all bad: Goldwater was a strong supporter of the environment. He explained his position in 1969:

I feel very definitely that the [Nixon] administration is absolutely correct in cracking down on companies and corporations and municipalities that continue to pollute the nation's air and water. While I am a great believer in the free competitive enterprise system and all that it entails, I am an even stronger believer in the right of our people to live in a clean and pollution-free environment. To this end, it is my belief that when pollution is found, it should be halted at the source, even if this requires stringent government action against important segments of our national economy.

why did the News-Press omit this info? Measure P, that's why

but Goldwater was anti-New Deal, anti-labor unions and the antithesis of FDR....Goldwater was a con artist..

some folks say Goldwater was the father of the Tea Party but I reject that...Sen Joe McCarthy was the father of the Tea Party....McCarthy was a conservative paranoid alcoholic goon

if you want to talk great presidents, check out the brilliant Ken Burns/ KCET special about Teddy and FDR and awesome First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt...now those were some interesting times....actually from the 1860s to the 1960s is what fascinates me....the Civil War... Tammany, Butch Cassidy...this 1887 pocket watch was once owned by Billy the Kid , or maybe the Sundance Kid...and I got it for a song....

Eleanor stood up to Joe McCarthy and called him an idiot..she was the most amazing woman in American politics and actually quite lovely as a young woman....

FDR was pro-America, pro-labor, anti-racism and forged an alliance with Churchill to beat the Nazis who were killing Jews and non-Jews in Europe...Hitler and the Nazis enjoyed killing because they were sadists, like Wendy

and FDR dealt with the Japs, too...and he was elected president FOUR TIMES!!!

so you can't even mention Goldwater or Reagan in the same sentence as FDR...FDR was a giant....a great man who led America through the Great Depression and World War II...

the New Deal saved America altho conservatives even today criticize FDR for it...but these conseravtives are not real Americans..they are pussies like Wendy, Nipper, Micheal Reagan and the Goldwater boy who have no stature compared to FDR....their only claim to fame is their famous daddies or their rich ex-husbands....

the New Deal put Americans to work and work they did...nobody was too concerned about getting rich in the stock market of screwing people out of their paychecks and pensions....unlike today's Republicans

it's true FDR married his fifth cousin, Eleanor but I say who cares as long as the second brother don't get in the way...hahahah!

and President Eisenhower..that's a whole 'nother post: Eisenhower was a hero who led the invasion into Germany and kicked Hitler's ass...In 1944, he was supreme commander of Operation Overlord, the Allied assault on Nazi-occupied Europe.

throughout his presidency, Eisenhower adhered to a political philosophy of dynamic conservatism. He continued all the major New Deal programs still in operation, especially Social Security. He expanded its programs and rolled them into a new cabinet-level agency, the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, while extending benefits to an additional ten million workers. He implemented integration in the Armed Services in two years, which had not been completed under Truman....

and don't forget Truman, the president who ordered the Enola Gay to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima, forcing the Japs to surrender

today the conservatives have lost their way because they drink too much and don't look at history staring them in the faces..

the great Republicans and Democrats loved America and Americans...they didn't dwell on making more and more money...and they didn't think Joe McCarthy was a great American

I'm still trying to figure out why Reagan invaded the tiny little island of Grenada...

no FDR? no Truman?? no Eisenhower?? then no Buddy Holly....no Rock-n-Roll....no 1950s....no Jack Johnson (HAAHAAH!!!) dude, pick up an electric guitar before you put me to sleep with your  slacker foofoo music...show some  R R spirit!!

like FDR did... and Truman and Eisenhower did....and Eleanor Roosevelt did .....these folks were the real deal...the real deal!!
