it's not Christmas..not even close and how I wish the old Santa statue was back on Santa Claus Lane waving at the passers-by..oh I know we've become more cynical nowadays but maybe they could have just left Santa and instead of waving at motorists, they could replaster his hand so that he's flipping everyone off!!

but I guess not...Halloween is just around the corner and so far it's been a spooky month.. I must see four films everyone Halloween..the Haunting, Freaks and the Exorcist and Hocus Pocus...then I'm happy..

ok so the reason I'm writing today is every year on the front page of the News-Press , right around Christmas, there's a story about the weird nonprofit Unity Shoppe and it's a tale of woe...I thinks it's a ploy for more money but it seems these folks are always crying about something or someone doing them wrong when all they try to do is help the poor and needy families..happens every year, on the front page of the News-Press....hmmmmm

the Unity Shoppe and Telethon used to be a good thing...Kenny Loggins and Paula Lopez singing together for the holidays...hey looking good Paula...but don't get too skinny!! and the years past had KEYT lading the telethon then everything changed when the stupid News-Press and people like Dr. Laura and Nipper were showing up looking like idiots...and then Nipper hires Peter Lance to do a hit job on the Ensemble Theatre, sworn enemies of the Unity Shoppe and the News-Press

from a few years ago: Lance had a two part investigative series in the News-Press on the messy real estate brawl between the Unity Shoppe and Ensemble Theatre and the Victoria Street Theatre they shared..you'll remember in the end the Unity Shoppe had to buy another place to hold their "non-profit" telethons ...the price tag was in the millions and you bought it for them!!!

but man oh man was this N-P story poorly written..I could have done a better job..it was disjointed, full of non sequiturs, lets go hunting....emails from the folks involved that Lance tried to read every possible shady motive into.....well it seems this year, the Unity Shoppe had to cancel the elaborate telethon due to lack of funds...and the News-Press had the story... of course they blamed the economy and unions for it, but I think people are just getting wise to all the scams, all the money filtering thru non-profits, all the CEOs getting rich, and the Unity Shoppe unwise real estate purchase....I could have predidcted that when the Wendy and Nipper got involved, it would kill the charity...then Dr. Laura showed up and it lost all credibilty...and poor Kenny Loggins just stood there and let it happen instead of bustin' some rhymes....last year the money was slow coming in, so the Chumash stepped in to save the day with a huge donation from all the gambling profits! hahaa...it's too ironic for me to explain now....but the Unity Shoppe lost focus when it tried to hitch its wagon to the News-Press....the results have been disasterous....

and it sounds familiar: the Lance series about the Unity Shoppe/Ensemble Theater was before he got arrested for DUI and we know how that multi-series "investigation" of his own arrest made it into the News-Press...Nipper was grooming him as a News-Press reporter!!!

so this year Tom Reed, the socialite executive director of the Unity Shoppe, blames construction at Victoria Hall for blocking his loading zone..he complains that everything is "deteriorating around him" and he "really doesn't know what to do"..

do what you always do Tom, cry to Wendy!!

sorry, but this year I BOYCOTT the UNITY SHOPPE!!!
